CELEBRATING 80 YEARS OF BENELUX CUSTOMS AGREEMENT
On September 5, 1944, with World War II approaching its end, consultations were held in London between the Belgian, Dutch and Luxembourg governments in exile. These contacts resulted in the creation of a unique, ground-breaking Customs Union, which shortly thereafter would become the BENELUX Treaty. Today, this important milestone celebrates its 80th anniversary and is therefore appropriately commemorated with the issuance of this new Benelux Euro set 2024.
